UAMS to Offer Free Prostate Cancer Screening Sept. 18

LITTLE ROCK – The Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will offer free prostate cancer screenings from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 18.

The screenings will be held on the sixth floor of the Cancer Institute on the UAMS campus.

Appointments can be made beginning Sept. 14 by calling (501) 686-8333 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Parking is free in the Outpatient Center parking deck on the corner of Cedar Street and Capitol Avenue. Participants will need to bring their parking tickets to the screening for validation.

All men ages 50-75 are eligible for the free screening. African-American men and those with a family history of prostate cancer are eligible beginning at age 40.

According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer in American men, after skin cancer.
