“Demystifying Grant Writing and Review Interpretation: Perspectives on How to Get and Stay Funded in Today’s Environment”

Dr. Hiebert received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University before pursuing postdoctoral studies at Duke University as an American Cancer Society fellow and Howard Hughes Research Associate. In 1991 he accepted a position at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, where he became an assistant member of the Department of Tumor Cell Biology. In 1997 he came to Vanderbilt-Ingram as associate professor of Biochemistry. He was promoted to full professor of Biochemistry in 2000, and also served for a time as leader of the Signal Transduction and Cellular Proliferation Program at Vanderbilt-Ingram before assuming the role of Associate Director for Basic Research and Shared Resources. Hiebert also served on the Extramural Scientific Council for the American Cancer Society.
