Yvonne McDonald | Breast Cancer Survivor

“I was a couple of months past due for my routine mammogram. I really didn’t want to deal with this during the Christmas holidays, so I planned it where the results would be back between Christmas and New Year’s.

I did receive the ‘recall’ notice to come back in for another exam. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 1999.  I was immediately scheduled for surgery, to follow up with chemotherapy and then radiation.

I remember thinking that this is going to take the entire year to get all of it done. But during that year, I learned a lot of what God had planned for my life. He had to get me to be still long enough to hear him.

Life is fragile and I realized that quantity is not nearly as important as quality. My perspective on life totally changed. My friends and family cared for me every step of the way.  My co-workers were my daily support.  I am very thankful for each and every one of them.”
