Michael Cashion | Squamous Cell Carcinoma Survivor

Michael Cashion Squamous cell carcinoma survivor

“In 2006, I thought I had a fever blister on my lip. I went to my dentist who sent me to a doctor in Pine Bluff. That doctor sent me to the Cancer Institute.

I was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma on my lip. Dr. Stack said that it was caused by too much sun exposure over the years. I had 40 percent of my lip and 20 lymph nodes removed.

Dr. Stack did my surgery and took good care of me. I’ve been his patient almost the entire time he’s been at the Cancer Institute.

Today I graduated! It’s been five years since I was diagnosed, and today was my last checkup. I still enjoy fishing, but now I wear sunscreen all the time when I’m outdoors.”
