Flora Smith Mucosal melanoma survivor
“I was diagnosed with mucosal melanoma in 2005. I underwent surgeries to remove the tumor and rebuild my nose.

When I was diagnosed, I told myself that I was going to beat this disease. I knew the doctors would take care of me, and I wanted to be here for my three children.

Miracles do happen, and I am so thankful to be able to be here for my children and grandchildren. We have welcomed two grandchildren since I was diagnosed.

I was able to get through my battle with cancer thanks to prayers. I prayed and others who were a part of my support system also prayed for me.

I would like for people who are fighting cancer to make sure they keep a positive attitude.”
