“One thing I can say is that people can never really understand what it’s like to have cancer until they experience it for themselves. Cancer gives you instant reason to stop and give serious thought to your life and how you live it.

Before being diagnosed with cancer I thought I was Superman. Cancer put me in a situation that I thought I would never be in. Now I take life more seriously. I can really appreciate what it is to be here, and I am thankful.

My youngest daughter was my biggest source of support through it all. Sometimes people with cancer may have to sit and wonder who is going to be there for me, who will pick up my medicine or who will help take care of me? I didn’t, she stepped up and did it all. She still takes care of me.

The best advice I could give to anyone battling cancer is to listen to your doctor. When they tell you to change your eating habits, activity level or anything else, trust and have faith in them.”
