Gail Murdoch | Breast Cancer Survivor

Gail Murdoch
Last year, I felt a lump in my breast. I was 37 years old and had never had a mammogram, although I knew I was getting close to the age when I needed to start being screened. I went to my OBGYN in Russellville who sent me to see Dr. Klimberg at UAMS.

I could tell that both she and my medical oncologist Dr. Makhoul are passionate about what they do. It made me feel confident knowing they care so much.

I had a lumpectomy followed by chemo and radiation. Today is my final visit; after this they will just monitor me.

I feel very fortunate that we have such good doctors here, and I appreciate the research that goes on at UAMS to help future generations. I also had a great support network with my family, my church and my coworkers.

Now I’m looking forward to getting back to normal.
