Dance/Movement Therapy for Breast Cancer Survivors

A dance/movement therapy (DMT) program for breast cancer survivors will begin Sept. 23 at the Cancer Institute. Sessions will be held at 10 a.m. for eight Wednesdays on the third floor of the Cancer Institute. There is no cost to participate.

For information, contact Dorothy Graves, Ph.D., at or 686-8511.

In a DMT therapy session, a DMT specialist leads participants through low-impact movements to improve their psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual experience. Breast cancer survivors report DMT improves mood, range of motion and body acceptance and reduces fatigue, pain and fear of recurrence. Previous dance experience is not required.

To be eligible to participate, patients must have completed treatment on or before March 2015 and must receive their doctor’s consent. Sessions will be led by J. Bocage Few, a board-certified dance/movement therapist and licensed professional counselor.Dance/Movement Therapy for Breast Cancer Survivors
