John Lowry | Bladder Cancer Survivor

“At first, I thought I had kidney stones. I was passing blood and went to see my primary care physician, who suggested I see a urologist.

I was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma of the bladder, which is a rare and aggressive type of cancer. Thankfully, it had not spread to my lymph nodes, so I feel confident that Dr. Kamel was able to remove it all during surgery.

Today I’m celebrating my last of six chemo treatments. I chose to come to UAMS for treatment instead of going out of state, and I’ve been satisfied with that decision. I was very pleased with the concern shown to me by my doctors and health care team. I feel very positive about moving forward.”
