Our Committment
The Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is committed to improving health equity in our underrepresented minority populations in Arkansas.
The Mammovan
Our mobile programs are instrumental to the success of cancer outreach and cancer education for underrepresented minorities in our Arkansas rural communities. These mobile programs provide mammography screenings and provide breast, colorectal, and lung cancer education.
Our mobile mammography van travels around the state of Arkansas and performs screening mammography. The van targets counties without permanent mammography facilities. A smoking cessation counselor travels with the van to offer lung cancer education. Colorectal education is also a focus of our mobile outreach.
