In 2013, Andy Shapira visited his local emergency department with food poisoning. A CT scan revealed abnormal spots on his bones. Blood work indicated myeloma. Diagnosed at just 39 with a wife and three young daughters, Andy was determined to knock out the myeloma. He chose the Myeloma Center at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Andy, now 45, remains in complete remission and continues living life and working as director of corporate analysis of his family-owned distillery, Heaven Hills, which includes Evan Williams bourbon.

The Myeloma Center, part of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at UAMS, is an international leader in the research and treatment of multiple myeloma and related blood cancers.
