UAMS Specialists to Speak at Hot Springs Village Event May 18

LITTLE ROCK — A panel of palliative care specialists from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will be guests for “The Doctor is In,” a free program from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. May 18 at Diamante Country Club, 2000 Country Club Drive, in Hot Springs Village.

To register, call the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Foundation at (501) 526-2277 by no later than May 11. Lunch is provided.

Palliative care is a medical specialty focused on addressing the needs of the mind, body and spirit and is available to patients at any stage of illness. Sarah Beth Harrington, M.D., director of the UAMS Division of Hospice and Palliative Care, will lead the panel discussion in issues related to pain and symptom management; emotional and spiritual support; care coordination and communication; and end-of-life concerns.

“The Doctor is In” is sponsored by Celegene and the Envoys, a volunteer advocacy group at the UAMS Cancer Institute.
