Diversity and Program Cooperation

The Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute is committed to increasing the diversity of the cancer research workforce by building a more inclusive and equitable community.

Our Efforts

  • Cancer Research Training and Education, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and Community Outreach and Engagement Associate Directors or their representative sits on the other team’s advisory committees
  • Regular meetings among the Associate Director’s of Cancer Research Training and Education, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and Community Outreach and Engagement programs.

Cancer Research Training and Education Program

The cancer research training and education core of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute will integrate cancer training and education of biomedical researchers and community health care professionals into programmatic efforts to enhance the scientific mission and potential of the Cancer Institute while enriching the careers of its members and working with the community to foster future scientific leaders.

The mission of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Cancer Institute is to intentionally advance and leverage diversity, equity, and inclusion to drive UAMS’ mission and the 2029 Strategic Plan to improve the health, health care and wellbeing of Arkansans and of others in the region, nation and world.

Community Outreach Engagement

To develop and sustain a community that enthusiastically joins together with Winthrop P.Rockefeller Cancer Institute to reduce the burden of cancer and eliminate cancer disparities in rural, underrepresented, and underserved populations within the state of Arkansas.
