About Our Meetings
There is so much to learn about cancer. Primary care physicians, community nurses, and oncology specialists must continually learn about the latest research advances and treatment options. We believe knowledge is power — and the more we know, the better chance we have of winning the fight against cancer.
That is why teaching is one of the central missions of the Cancer Institute. More than 70 percent of all physicians practicing in Arkansas graduated from UAMS. Cancer Institute cancer specialists play an important role in teaching medical students, residents and fellows about cancer. Health care professionals from across the state and country attend continuing education seminars at the Cancer Institute.
Weekly educational opportunities are available to healthcare professionals and the scientific community at Grand Rounds and the Forum lecture series.
The UAMS College of Medicine Departments of Internal Medicine and Surgery offer fellowships in Hematology & Oncology and Breast Surgical Oncology respectively. These programs produce some of the most highly skilled specialists in the nation.
The Cancer Institute hosts special events to educate health care professionals about cancer and cancer research. These programs include various seminars on cancer, tours of our center and cancer education programs.
