NCT07061977 – A Phase III Study of Induction Pembrolizumab and Chemotherapy Followed by Chemoradiation and Pembrolizumab vs Chemoradiation and Pembrolizumab Both Followed by Pembrolizumab for High Risk Locally Advanced Cervical Cancer
This Phase III trial (NRG-GY037) compares two treatment approaches for patients with cervical cancer that has spread to nearby tissue or lymph nodes but not to distant sites. One arm adds induction chemotherapy, using carboplatin, paclitaxel, and pembrolizumab, before standard chemoradiation with cisplatin and pembrolizumab. The other arm uses standard chemoradiation with cisplatin and pembrolizumab alone. Both arms are followed by pembrolizumab maintenance therapy. Pembrolizumab is an immunotherapy that helps the immune system attack cancer cells and can interfere with tumor growth and spread, while carboplatin, paclitaxel, and cisplatin work through more traditional chemotherapy mechanisms to stop cancer cells from growing and dividing. Enrollment is open to patients who have not had prior definitive surgical, radiation, or systemic therapy for cervical cancer.
