Jennifer Mei Gan-Kemp, MBA, CRS is the Program Administrator for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Core in the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute (WPRCI), a Research Instructor in the UAMS Department of Medical Humanities and Bioethics, and an Affiliate Faculty Research Instructor in the UAMS Center for Health Literacy. She is also a facilitator for the UAMS Office of Interprofessional Education, UAMS Office of Intercultural Education, and the UAMS Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity (SEED) program.
Jen is currently the chair of the UAMS Academic Senate Research Committee, secretary for the UAMS Women’s Faculty Development Caucus, co-chair of the International Health Literacy Association Research group, and a member of the diversity, equity, and inclusion task force for the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine and Health.
Jen is originally from California and has also lived in rural southwest Arkansas. Prior to working at UAMS she served as the deputy director of clinical research at a neuropsychiatric clinic that specialized in serving the Spanish speaking population of Southern California. In this role, Jen managed multiple industry sponsored clinical trials evaluating the efficacy of experimental treatments for Alzheimer’s disease, schizophrenia, anxiety, and depression. Prior to that position, Jen managed multiple clinical research projects, surgical resident educational research, and an international robot-assisted laparoscopic surgical training program at the University of California Irvine (UCI). She also worked at the UCI Center for Educational Partnerships, where she managed the statewide California Alliance for Minority Participation (CAMP), across eight University of California campuses. This program supports undergraduate research in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by populations historically excluded and underrepresented in the STEM field.
Jen has an undergraduate degree in sociology from UCI and a master’s degree from the Health Care Executive MBA program at UCI’s Paul Merage School of Business. She also completed the Research Administration Management Program at UCI, the advanced clinical research specialist certification at UAMS, and is currently completing the healthcare analytics certificate program at UAMS.
When she is not at work, she enjoys road trips with friends, float trips on lazy rivers, and finding hidden gems and adventures across the Natural State.
