LITTLE ROCK — Peter Emanuel, M.D., director of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), has been appointed to the board of directors of the Association of American Cancer Institutes (AACI).
Emanuel will serve a two-year term after being appointed to fill a vacated seat on the board.
Emanuel’s translational research interests have focused for more than 25 years on myeloproliferative neoplasms, and his laboratory is an international leader in investigating juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia. He has served as director of the UAMS Cancer Institute since 2007.
AACI comprises 94 premier academic and freestanding cancer research centers in the United States. It is dedicated to reducing the burden of cancer by enhancing the impact of the nation’s leading academic cancer centers.
