Dear Supporters and Friends,
With great gratitude, thank you to all of our past participants in helping to make our 6th annual Be a Part of the Cure Walk a rewarding experience where we brought together over 2,000, raising awareness for ALL Cancers and celebrating our survivors. Our combined efforts across this state and others raised over $500,000 towards vital cancer research needed here in Arkansas. Each year we are excited to see a growing number of strong voices, and we hope you will join us as we continue to walk the path to a cure.
Be a Part of the Cure Walk demonstrates the depth of our community’s support, and commitment to finding a cure by fueling cancer research in Arkansas. Our clinicians and researchers continue to push the boundaries in cancer research, treatment and prevention, and we are committed to addressing all cancers that directly impact Arkansas. Cancer Institute members are making great strides in fields such as molecular biology, immunotherapy and prevention. In addition, we are working on clinical trials where our investigators are actively working to facilitate new and better treatment options for patients across Arkansas by offering cutting-edge therapies to treat those diagnosed with cancer.
In addition, the Be a Part of the Cure Walk educates participants of all ages about healthy lifestyles, fitness, early detection, prevention and screenings with the mobile vans on site. As the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute launches its lung cancer mobile screening program, we now operate the largest mobile screening fleet in the nation, combining and complementing our mobile mammography program that reaches thousands of Arkansans throughout the state. These mobile units provide more than just screenings. They represent hope arriving at church parking lots, community centers and workplaces across our state. Community outreach and engagement remain central to our mission and continue to inform our work so that we are able to meet the top cancer needs of Arkansans, ensuring their voices are heard and the barriers they face in getting the care they need are overcome.
