Myeloma Center Ambassador Program

The Myeloma Center has enlisted a team of experienced patient ambassadors across the U.S. to serve as advisors and sounding boards for new patients.

Experienced patients know better than anyone what new patients are going through. They can be good listeners and alleviate concerns.

If you are interested in becoming one of our Patient Ambassadors please contact Sonya Thornes at 501-804-3557 or email SRThornes@uams.edu

Patient Support Pavilion

Volunteers in this area welcome patients and guests as they enter the Patient Support Pavilion, give directions, assist with educational materials, facilitate wig fittings, help guests with the computers and fax machines as needed, and assist PSP staff with daily projects.

Sit & Knit

Knitters and crocheters are welcome to join in making hats for our patients each Wednesday afternoon. All supplies are provided through the Auxiliary Grants Program.

Musicians can share their talent on the grand piano in the first floor atrium of the Cancer Institute, or bring their own instruments to play. Patients can hear the music on each waiting room floor of the Cancer Institute.

Volunteers greet and welcome all patients and visitors in the lobby on the first floor of the Cancer Institute. Volunteers help patients at the self check-in kiosks and escort them to their appropriate clinic.

Episodic or special event volunteers work at cancer screenings, on fundraising committees and for Partners Card.
